Domino's S'mores Lava Cakes Hit Menus Nationwide July 27

No Campfire Required

Domino’s is expanding its dessert menu with a new item that leans hard into summer nostalgia. The chain announced S’mores Lava Cakes this week, a three-piece order of oven-baked graham cracker cakes filled with chocolatey chips and a marshmallow-flavored center, finished with powdered sugar. The idea, at least according to Domino’s marketing chief, is to capture the essence of a campfire classic without any of the outdoor logistics.

“S’mores Lava Cakes bring together everything people love about the classic treat — melty chocolate, gooey marshmallow and graham cracker flavor — without having to chop firewood, start a fire or apply bug spray,” said Kate Trumbull, Domino’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer, as reported by Dexerto.

It is a very specific list of problems to solve with a pizza delivery order. But the pitch is straightforward: the familiar architecture of a s’more, translated into something you can get alongside a large pepperoni on a Thursday night.

Early Access and a Mix-and-Match Angle

Domino’s Rewards members get first crack at the new item starting July 20. The broader nationwide rollout follows on July 27, according to Dexerto.

The more interesting wrinkle here is how the chain is positioning S’mores Lava Cakes within its existing menu. Rather than simply swapping out one dessert option for another, Domino’s is encouraging customers to build what it calls a lava cake flight — mixing the new S’mores variety with its existing Chocolate Lava Cakes, which come filled with molten chocolate fudge and are also topped with powdered sugar. It is a small but clever bit of menu architecture that turns two SKUs into a customizable dessert experience.

“Customers already love our Chocolate Lava Cakes, so we wanted to take that experience a step further with a flavor that’s both nostalgic and irresistible,” Trumbull said, per Dexerto.

Pricing and the Broader Menu Push

A three-piece order of S’mores Lava Cakes is included in Domino’s Mix and Match deal at $6.99, though Dexerto notes prices may vary by location. That is the same deal structure the chain uses for a range of its menu items, so the new dessert slots in without requiring customers to change how they already order.

The launch comes during a stretch of active menu expansion for the chain. Earlier this year, according to Dexerto, Domino’s introduced its first-ever Slice Sauce, a creamy Parmesan dipping sauce. The S’mores Lava Cakes feel like part of the same push — a company leaning into the idea that there is more to its menu than pizza alone.

Why S’mores, Why Now

S’mores as a flavor concept has stayed remarkably durable in American food culture. It shows up on menus across fast food, fast casual, and convenience retail with some regularity, especially in the warmer months. Domino’s timing here is deliberate — dropping a campfire-adjacent dessert in mid-July, right in the middle of summer, is not an accident.

The real question is whether the execution holds up. The original Chocolate Lava Cake has been a steady presence on the Domino’s menu for years, so the team clearly has a handle on the format. Adding graham cracker to the base and swapping molten fudge for a marshmallow-flavored center is a meaningful departure, not just a recolor of an existing product. Whether that marshmallow center delivers the gooey pull that makes a real s’more satisfying is something customers will get to find out starting July 20 — bug spray optional.
