The Riot Games Arena hosts everything from July 16 all the way through September 5, and by the time the dust settles, two teams will have punched their tickets to Shanghai.

The stakes are real and the field is loaded. Sentinels, Cloud9, NRG, LOUD, Leviatán, FURIA, MIBR, 100 Thieves, G2 Esports, KRU Esports, Evil Geniuses, and ENVY make up the twelve core franchises. How the Tournament Is Structured

Stage 2 works in three phases. The Group Stage runs from July 16 through August 9 in a single round-robin format, with each match played as a best-of-three. Every win there also matters beyond just the standings: teams earn one Championship Point per regular-season match win, so there is no such thing as a throwaway game.

From August 13 to 23, the action shifts to Play-Ins. That bracket uses a 12-team double-elimination format, pulling in the eight Group Stage qualifiers alongside four teams from Americas Regional Challengers. Three of those Challenger spots are already filled. M80 qualified through Challengers N. America: Stage 3, La Masia came through Challengers Brazil: Stage 2, and two more spots remain to be determined through Challengers Latin America and the Americas Last Chance Qualifier, as reported by Dot Esports.

Playoffs close things out from August 27 through September 5. The top four teams from each group advance, with stronger group finishers earning better bracket positioning. The format is double-elimination, mostly best-of-three, but the lower bracket final and grand final escalate to best-of-five. First place takes 8 Championship Points, second earns 6, third gets 5, and fourth receives 4.

Early Results from the Group Stage

The opening weekend delivered some genuinely close matches. On July 16, Leviatán took down FURIA 2-1 in a series that went to a tiebreaker on Split, while Sentinels edged Cloud9 2-1 in a Lotus thriller that went to overtime. July 17 saw Evil Geniuses sweep ENVY convincingly, and LOUD came back to defeat KRU Esports 2-1 after dropping the first map. Saturday brought more fireworks: 100 Thieves topped G2 Esports 2-1, and MIBR beat NRG 2-1 in a three-map series.

Matches are scheduled nearly every day through August 9, with a mix of Thursday-through-Sunday slates. Some of the more anticipated upcoming matchups include Sentinels versus LOUD on July 26, 100 Thieves versus Sentinels on July 31, and the final Group Stage weekend headlined by Evil Geniuses versus NRG and LOUD versus 100 Thieves on August 9.
