A Familiar Face Runs Into Riot’s Rules

Ardis “Ardiis” Svarenieks built a real post-pro identity around VCT watch parties. The Latvian-British player had already put in years of high-level competitive time, most notably with FunPlus Phoenix and Natus Vincere, and co-streaming gave him a way to stay connected to the game and his audience after stepping back from the pro circuit. That platform came to an abrupt halt on July 23, when Riot Games issued a formal disciplinary ruling against him.

According to a statement from the VALORANT Esports EMEA account, Ardiis violated Riot Games’ Terms of Service through the use of discriminatory and offensive language during a co-stream. The statement laid out Riot’s position plainly: the organization does not tolerate discriminatory conduct or language of any kind, including conduct targeting an individual’s race, ethnicity, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, religion, nationality, or any other protected characteristic.

The penalty came fast. So did the fallout from his org.

NAVI Cuts Ties Immediately

Shortly after Riot’s statement went public, NAVI Valorant posted its own response. The org did not hedge. According to their statement, NAVI respects and fully supports Riot’s decision, describing the situation as crossing a line that “should never be crossed.” Effective immediately, NAVI announced it was suspending its cooperation with Ardiis.

That cooperation covered more than just a logo on a stream overlay. NAVI’s move affects his status as a branded streamer, cutting off official support, promotions, and likely any contracted co-streaming rights he held through the organization. For a creator whose streaming brand leaned heavily on VCT coverage, losing both Riot’s authorization and org backing at once is a significant blow.

What the Suspension Actually Means

On the Riot side, the suspension bars Ardiis from running watch parties using the official tournament feed through August 19, as reported by Dot Esports. That is roughly a month of VCT action he cannot cover with the co-stream format that made his channel a destination for fans.

Riot’s warning was pointed. The VALORANT Esports EMEA statement noted that any future violations may result in additional disciplinary action, up to and including permanent loss of co-streaming rights. That language matters. It means the August 19 date is not a guaranteed reset button. It is a conditional window.

Under Riot’s co-stream guidelines, open watch parties carry the same conduct expectations as official broadcasts. That framing closes off any argument that informal streams exist in a looser gray zone. If you use the tournament feed, you operate by the same rules as anyone else on that feed.

The Path Back Is Narrow

Because the suspension is not permanent, Ardiis does have a theoretical route back to co-streaming once the disciplinary period ends. As reported by Dot Esports, what that actually looks like depends on two separate decisions: whether Riot chooses to re-authorize his co-stream rights, and whether NAVI decides to resume cooperation or keeps him at a distance.

Neither of those outcomes is guaranteed. Riot will be watching for follow-through on conduct, and NAVI’s statement read like an organization drawing a firm line rather than leaving a door conspicuously ajar.

For streamers and former pros who have built their brands around VCT co-streaming specifically, this case underscores something practical. The rights to broadcast tournament content are a privilege Riot can pull at any time, and discriminatory language is exactly the kind of conduct that triggers that pull. The rules apply regardless of how prominent a creator is or how much history they have with the game.
